One of the world’s youngest billionaires with an on-demand private jet and an A-List actress with an exorbitant monthly house rent have faced some serious backlash lately. Hulu’s Kylie Jenner The Kardashians fame and Amber Heard of Aquaman (and the recent defamation trial of Johnny Depp) fame faces criticism related to the unreliability of their private affairs. But that’s not the only thing they have in common – as they both also had the same type of reaction to the allegations.
Kylie Jenner Took A Detour Following Private Jet Hoopla
Earlier this week, Kylie Jenner posted a picture on Instagram showing off her and Travis Scott’s $70 million (apiece) private jets. (The photo also featured a Rolls Royce.) As a result, the comments section was split between claims that the beauty mogul is insensitive to climate change due to her alleged flights of less than 20 minutes, and claims that she is “out of touch with the struggles of ordinary people. Amid this controversy, Jenner seemingly responded with a classic “hey, I’m normal like you” on TikTok:

Yes, everyone loves a deal at Target—even the upper echelons of wealth and influence. But was Kylie Jenner’s humble TikTok doing what she thinks it was doing? I mean, after all, stacking an entire checkout lane with toys isn’t exactly for everyone, especially in this economy.
It’s kind of reminiscent of when she was #Relatable with her reported Postmates habits — only her annual bill was somewhere in the five figures. Or then, as viewers of the 1st season The Kardashians I remember (now streaming with a Hulu subscription) when she wanted to feel “normal” by taking her own Mercedes-Benz through a $12 car wash with her mother.
It’s not a destination, but Amber Heard had a similar place in mind after the backlash
Now, #Relatable Amber Heard’s problems are a little different than Kylie Jenner’s. After Amber Heard lost her defamation lawsuit in June, it was reported that Heard is renting a house for a whopping $22,500 a month. That’s nowhere near the estimated $450,000 a month for the Jenner family’s rent for New Year’s Eve last year. Still, Heard’s supposed month-to-month rent didn’t go down so well on the Internet following the outcome of the dramatic trial, as her attorney Elaine Bredehoft said Heard doesn’t have the money to cover what she owes after the trial.
The former couple went back and forth in court with drug and spousal abuse allegations throughout their marriage. The jury ultimately awarded Johnny Depp $15 million in its verdict, which the judge reduced to $8.3 million after taking into account Virginia’s statutory cap laws and $2 million the actress won in her own defamation lawsuit. Following the ruling, Heard’s attorney shared the Today’s show that the actress “absolutely will not” be able to pay the damages owed to her ex.
The justice league star appealed against the sentence. Meanwhile, Amber Heard has apparently taken the Kylie Jenner approach and tried to look closer as questions remain about her finances. According to the New York Post, Heard was actually spotted by onlookers shopping at TJ Maxx right after news of her expensive home rental broke. Again, we all love TJ Maxx, but then again, the 36-year-old’s situation probably isn’t quite the same since she was at a franchise location in the Hamptons over the summer.
But hey, celebrities are just like us too. Right? Maybe they’re out here catching up on all the worthwhile shows on Hulu or what’s next on the 2022 movie schedule like I am.
